Job Opportunities 4

 Oceanswell Job Opportunities November 2024

Oceanswell is looking to fill four positions within the organisation. These positions are open to anyone looking to support the work of Oceanswell and gain experience. [Please read the descriptions in the following pages to understand what you are applying for and apply if you have the credentials to complete the tasks].

The Organisation:

Oceanswell is Sri Lanka’s first marine conservation research and education non-profit. Oceanswell conducts much-needed marine conservation research around Sri Lanka, provides opportunities for students to experience marine research first-hand, educates future ocean heroes with knowledge about the oceans using traditional and social media and encourages and provides opportunities for ocean engagement.

Both opportunities are funded through a grant from the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) and are paid opportunities.

One position will report to the Executive Director of Oceanswell and will be based out of the Oceanswell office at Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo 7. Remote working arrangements will be considered after the first month of the project. The other positions require remote working and time outreach at pre-identified sites in the country.

About the project:

This OCPP project aims to provide technical advice and capacity building to support the conservation and management of protected, endangered and threatened (PET) mobile marine species in Sri Lanka. To this end, we will conduct outreach and training for members of select coastal communities and relevant authorities. We will also work with tourism operators and other relevant stakeholders to understand how to expand citizen science reporting of PET species across the island. The three work packages must be completed by the end of March 2025, and as such, we are working within tight timelines. Please bear this in mind as you apply for the below positions.

Deadline: 5 DECEMBER 2024
