Opportunity 1: Operations and logistics manager

This is a 4-month FULLTIME opportunity. This project requires coordination among the training and outreach team, consultants and in-house staff. The operations and logistics manager will be in charge of managing the timelines of all team members, ensuring communication with authorities and other stakeholders, and overseeing logistics.

Required skills:

    • Strong communication skills – prior experience communicating with government authorities and stakeholders (local community members) is essential. Please ensure you highlight your experience in this area when applying.
    • Ability to communicate in English and Sinhala and/or Tamil
    • Strong time management skills
    • Ability to manage and work well with team members from varying backgrounds
    • Ability to organise logistics on the ground – including transport and accommodations for outreach and training team members
    • Ability to check accounts submitted by team members before submitting to Oceanswell accountants
    • Be very organised and able to manage reports and relevant paperwork

 

Opportunity 2: Outreach and training team member

This is a 3-month opportunity that requires team members (4 individuals) to work together to deliver outreach and training to select communities and authorities on PET species. All members will be trained to conduct their roles effectively.

Required skills:

    • Support the development of training materials
    • Strong communication skills in English and Sinhala and/or Tamil
    • Ability to translate English language to Sinhala and/or Tamil language
    • Ability to write reports on activities
    • Strong time management skills
    • Ability to keep accounts on expenditure related to transport and accommodation during outreach sessions
    • Have a strong desire to share information on species such as marine mammals, sea birds and sea turtles to a diverse group of individuals. Information to be shared includes background on these species groups, such as life history characteristics, basic identification of the different species, reporting of strandings and sightings etc
    • Be good at working with a team and working with individuals from various backgrounds, including government authorities and local communities

Be willing to travel and stay in different coastal provinces for 3-4 days at a time as required
